| Each year Channel 6 awards a scholarship to one young adult who has dedicated his or her time to the station. During the time they are at the station they get involved in all aspects of the station from pre-production to the final project. They spend many hours at the station and in the field helping make sure that the show is done at a professional level. The student that shows the most growth and interest in the broadcast field wins the Brian Swica Scholarship.
Brian was an inspiration to everyone involved at Channel 6, the tri-community area and pro sports players. Brian came to channel 6 with fresh ideas for the station and won numerous awards for his work. He loved sports and was able to interview many pro players from the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons. To honor Brian and his dedication, Channel 6 is proud to give this scholarship in his name.
