In 1987 WBRW Channel 6 began its video journey. A cable commission was formed with two representatives each from Bruce Township, The Village of Romeo, Washington Township and one representative from Comcast. The commission hired Greg Delauro as the station’s first manager. Greg planned, organized, found volunteers, and ultimately got the station up and running. Greg left after three years and Sean Demers was hired. Sean was proactive. Under his leadership a News and Sports Department was established and more advanced equipment was purchased. During those years Channel 6 moved twice - once to the youth Center and then to its current studio at 6 Walter Sheetz Drive in Romeo.

Jim Ashmore, David Bolton, Jeanne Lerchen, Lois Apple, Richard Cory, Brian Swica, Mark Evans and Shirley Bergman began as volunteers and were integral in making the station successful. In 2000, Richard Cory became the Station Manager and is in that role today. Richard began as a volunteer under Greg Delauro’s tenure and then moved into the position of Assistant Station Manager when Sean Demers was hired. Richard, who grew up in Romeo, brings a strong sense of community to the station. He has a unique perspective of the people and places of the tri-community area and the understanding and capacity to promote them all. |
